COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Black and Latinx populations with 1 out of 5 deaths in New Jersey in those groups. The Mobile Family Success Center is working with investigators at Rutgers University on a NIH-funded research study that focuses on increasing COVID-19 outreach, education and testing for lower-income, Black and Latinx communities in Passaic, Essex, Union and Middlesex counties.
All study participants ages 4+ get a FREE, confidential at-home COVID-19 saliva test and their information is kept confidential. IN addition, upon completing the requested survey along with returning the saliva testing kit, participants receive at $35 gift card.
The goal with this research study is to:
- Better understand COVID-19 testing patterns among underserved & vulnerable populations
- Strengthen the data on disparities in infection rates, disease progression & outcomes and
- Develop strategies to reduce the disparities in COVID-19 testing
