Energy Therapies
A generic term for a format of alternative medicine that uses an energy field (i.e., electrical, magnetic, sonic, acoustic, microwave, infrared) to screen for, or allegedly treat, health conditions by detecting imbalances in the body’s energy fields and then correcting them. The patient/client is evaluated by electroacupuncture biofeedback, in which a device measures electrical resistance at acupuncture points that correspond to specific organs and tissue, known as “control measurement points”.
Reiki is a form of therapy that uses simple hands-on, no-touch, and visualization techniques, with the goal of improving the flow of life energy in a person. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means "universal life energy" in Japanese, and Reiki practitioners are trained to detect and alleviate problems of energy flow on the physical, emotional, and spiritual level.
